Is your house list ready?
When you decide you want to sell your home, your TO DO list might be overwhelming.
As a Real Estate Professional I will always tell you the truth and you might not like to hear it sometimes, but some things have to be said. The first impression of a house if EVERYTHING! I know exactly what it will take to sell your home. It is not beneficial for me to sugar coat things, because we want to sell your home not just list it!
Here are some tips for getting your house list ready!
Exterior:
- Make sure your lawn is mowed and edged. The first impression a buyer will get of your home is from the outside. Curb appeal is very important. If you don’t have the time to keep the lawn mowed and edged, now is the time when hiring a service would benefit you. This way you don’t have to worry about making sure it always is done in time for a buyer to see it or an open house. If you need someone to help with this, I have a great list of contacts who I can refer you to.
- Trim all the trees and shrubs on your property. If you can’t reach some of your trees or have the equipment to trim the trees and shrubs, we suggest you hire a landscape company to get it in shape for you. You can also rent the equipment from a rental company if you would prefer to do it yourself.
- Plant some fresh new flowers , its all about the CURB APPEAL!
- Replace any cracked or broken windows and make sure they are clean for a well maintained look.
- Paint exterior areas that need painting. Peeling or chipped paint should be taken care of for a fresh look to your home. If you are unable to paint, just pressure wash and make sure the home is presentable at first sight.
Interior:
- Personal items such as pictures, trophies with names, home made crafts, etc. often keep people from being able to visualize the home for themselves and distract from other features of the home. Make sure your personal paperwork is put away so home buyers can't see any documents.
- Remove all clutter from around your house. Simple & clean is best!
- Use a magic eraser to get those handprints or stains off the walls, unless you need to freshen the paint up.
- Repair any minor issues that need to be addressed.
